Texas Man Caught in Tuscaloosa With Weed Gummies, Jar of DMT

Jul 23, 2023

Tuscaloosa police have charged a Texas man with trafficking cannabis after he was allegedly discovered with several pounds of marijuana gummies, a jar of the psychedelic compound DMT and more.

In court documents filed Wednesday, a Tuscaloosa Police officer said he was patrolling Interstate 20/59 Monday afternoon when he stopped a car with Texas plates for following a vehicle too closely.

The officer said he "gathered reasonable suspicion that illegal contraband could be in the vehicle," and the driver, 22-year-old Jaison Conner Ross, gave consent for a search.

Police said they found 2.7 pounds of marijuana gummies, a jar of powdered DMT, a plastic container of Adderall, papers that had been soaked in DMT and more.

State law says categorizes possession of illegal cannabis by weight, and because Ross was allegedly transporting more than 2.2 pounds, he was charged with trafficking cannabis, a Class A felony.

Ross was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he remained Thursday with a bond set at $250,000.
